Luci is an artist who lives in a swamp ghetto on Gumbaynggirr country. Her works are based on the visions of light she sees when she closes her eyes, and the mysterious landscapes she encounters - Dark but comforting waters are glowing, stingrays are falling stars, orbs are bodies floating up from the garden. It's the end of the world but there's a certain calmness.

I found a healthier way of expressing my emotions is a group show inspired by and including works by an artist from Dillwynia Correctional Centre. They were purchased from Boom Gate Gallery (@ Long Bay Jail) whose staff make regular visits to Dillwynia to ensure equal representation of women at the gallery.

The artist wrote “I discovered the gift of art after I joined the art program offered in Dillwynia in 2022. And my life has never been the same. I found a healthier way of expressing my emotions. I started finding my voice through arts. I found a platform to tell my story, to speak my mind, to be a voice for those who are still scared or who simply cannot. I’m 49 years old but I feel like my life has just begun.”
