Akuila's work explores ideas of cultural authenticity, and identity performances within the Tongan-Australian diaspora through the material use of clay. Through investigating societal constructs of history, identity, and gender, Akuila utilises humour and heliaki (allusion) to subvert these preconceived notions. Akuila's work reinterprets traditional Tongan art making and applies these practices to contemporary materials to explore new narratives of identity.\u003c\/div\u003e","brand":"Suita7a","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47622274351322,"sku":null,"price":75.0,"currency_code":"AUD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0720\/8543\/8682\/files\/IMG_9996_2.jpg?v=1771906832","url":"https:\/\/suite7a.co\/products\/three-prong-bone-2027","provider":"Suite7a","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
